RSM Design goes green
As an environmental graphic design firm, RSM Design feels a strong responsibility to know and implement the highest awareness of eco-friendly practices in our work and lives. Working on its own and with others, such as SEGD (Society of Environmental Graphic Design) and the USGBC, RSM Design strives to promote sustainable design, from how we approach our projects to how we incorporate it into our everyday practices at the studio. The first member of our team became a LEED Accredited Professional after passing the LEED for New Construction test in 2009. We look forward to adding more members from our team to the list in the near future (keep studying!)
RSM Design has served as the graphics consultant on a variety of LEED certified projects. Brewery Blocks at Portland's Pearl District received Gold and Silver LEED certification on all 5 blocks of the project. Being one of the first retail centers to "build green," Northfield Stapleton located in Denver, Colorado was granted Silver LEED certification in 2006, along with The Promenade Bolingbrook in 2007. Currently, RSM is working on The Collection, in Oxnard, California that will also be LEED certified.
Key strategies RSM implements into every environmental graphic design project include recommendations from the SEGD Green Paper - longevity or performance over time, air and environmental quality, resource and waste management, end of usable life management, and energy and lighting efficiency. By comparing and selecting materials that are recyclable and durable, using technology, such as touch screens, and designing for reuse, therefore minimizing waste, RSM successfully integrates sustainable design into many projects, both locally and globally.
RSM Design is excited to be leading environmental graphic design in innovation and support of green practices and LEED endeavors in our current and future projects.
